How it works

Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that relaxes blood vessels, while Valsartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) that prevents blood vessel narrowing. Together, they lower blood pressure more effectively than either medicine alone.

Usage And Safety

Dosage

Adults: One tablet once daily, with or without food.
Children: Not recommended.
Dose adjustment should be done by physician.

Side Effects

Common effects include headache, dizziness, fatigue, swelling (edema), flushing, low blood pressure, nausea, cough, abdominal discomfort, and muscle/joint pain.

Drug Interactions

Antihypertensives, potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, NSAIDs, lithium, CYP3A4 inhibitors/inducers, grapefruit juice, simvastatin, and sildenafil.

Indication

Used for treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension).

When not to Use

Do not use in severe liver disease, biliary cirrhosis, cholestasis, or allergy to any ingredient.

Precautions

Use with caution in kidney artery stenosis, dehydration, or patients prone to electrolyte imbalance. Regular monitoring of kidney function and potassium is advised.

Warnings

May cause low blood pressure, kidney function changes, or angioedema (swelling of face/throat). Potassium levels should be monitored during treatment.
